4 months agoVery disappointed.i work out daily in my home gym and I’m quite fit, but I hoped to join a gym to take some classes and change things up a bit. I called the JCC as many of my friends belong, and I was told that I could not take the weight class I requested because of my age! The chair class that I was asked to take was a major letdown. The instructor was very nice and she also wondered why I would take that class. As there are no classes available to healthy seniors that provide any challenge, perhaps you should look elsewhere

a year agoJCC has the best workout facilities anywhere around for those of us who aren’t young or super fit and don’t like loud music. I love that there are people there of all ages and fitness levels. They have a huge selection of weights (machines and free weights) in the weight room and a large selection of cardio equipment (treadmills, rowing machines, stair masters, stationary bicycles, regular ellipticals, lateral ellipticals). I’ve almost never had to wait for a weight machine and never had to wait for a cardio machine. There’s also an area for stretching and floor work. I’ve never felt as comfortable in a gym as I do at JCC. I’ve also enjoyed their yoga and pickle ball classes.

a year agoGreat gym space in the Richmond area - though the memberships can be quite pricey unless you're under 35 or over 55. The real hidden gem is the full steam room, sauna and jacuzzi - a rarity in the Richmond area and a real treat on the muscles after a long workout. Thhough I sometimes question their commitment to keeping these amenities given their downtime and the seemingly increasing restrictions on use.

2 years agoI am a huge fan if the JCC. It is a true community center with emphasis on community. People are warm, friendly, and staff are dedicated to their jobs. I love our deep water aerobics class taught by Amy Wilson. It is excellent exercise and a fun way to meet interesting and kind people. In addition to Amy’s upbeat teaching style, I must also commend Pete (sorry I do not know his last name). It is obvious that Pete looks closely at the women in the class (ages 50 something - 80 something ) at the beginning of class to check if everyone is okay, and then he watches us closely while still guarding the recreational pool. I have a great sense of security that we are safe under Pete’s diligent watch. He should be commended for his professionalism.

2 years agoGreat Kosher option in Richmond! Came to the area for a two-day retreat, the program ordered my choice of items for breakfast and lunch. In addition to fresh, tasty, and healthy options, the food was double (triple? quadruple?) packed in saran wrap to ensure I can even give it a short microwave boost. Thank you!
