Expert Summary

Detailed Insights

This YMCA offers a community fitness center experience with friendly staff, an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and general gym equipment including an E-Gym. It can be a convenient option for local families looking for varied fitness amenities.

Key Highlights

  • Friendly and welcoming staff members enhance the overall experience.
  • Locker rooms are clean and well-maintained.
  • Sauna and steam room are functional and working.
  • The indoor pool maintains a comfortable temperature.
  • An E-Gym facility is available for workouts, especially effective during off-peak hours.

Standout Features

  • Friendly and helpful employees are a consistent positive.
  • Indoor pool is a valued amenity, particularly for families.
  • Working sauna and steam room for adult relaxation.
  • E-Gym provides a structured workout option.
  • Clean locker rooms contribute to a pleasant experience.

Perfect For

Younger children (implied by 'adventure center' and 'my son' in reviews)
Teenagers and adults (implied by gym facilities, weight-training, and mention of an '18 year old disabled' member).

Ideal For

Families seeking a general fitness facility with an indoor pool and friendly atmosphere.
Individuals who can utilize gym equipment during off-peak hours.
Members prioritizing amenities like sauna and steam room alongside their workouts.
Parents looking for a local gym facility with some kid-friendly options, provided they are aware of specific limitations.

💡Pro Tips from Reviews

  • Parents seeking gym time while kids are at the 'adventure center' should avoid Fridays, as drop-off is unavailable.
  • If your workout routine depends on stair climbers, be prepared for potential unavailability or plan to visit during off-peak hours.
  • For a better experience with E-Gym or in the free-gym area, aim to visit during off-hours to avoid potential crowding and limited space.
  • If extended evening access on weekends is important, verify specific operating hours before committing.
  • Parents of disabled children or those highly valuing personal safety and human rights should thoroughly investigate the serious safety concerns raised in Review 3 prior to visiting.

Things to Consider

  • Management has been accused of failing to adequately address severe threats and harassment directed at disabled members and employees, leading to significant safety concerns for vulnerable populations.
  • Weekend operating hours are limited, with a desire for them to be open later (e.g., until 9 PM on Saturday and Sunday).
  • On Fridays, the 'adventure center' does not offer drop-off services; it's 'family time,' forcing parents to supervise children while attempting to work out.
  • The number of functional stair climbers is insufficient (one of four consistently out of order, another frequently down), leading to frequent unavailability.
  • Weight-training facilities are considered a limiting factor by some members.
  • The 'free-gym area' is perceived as small, creating 'friction' for workouts, especially during busier times.
  • Overall facilities are described as being in 'okay shape,' not top-tier.

Price & Value

The cost is perceived by at least one reviewer as high relative to the limited weekend operating hours and the lack of drop-off services at the adventure center on Fridays. No specific pricing details are provided.

Accessibility & Special Needs

  • Serious concerns have been raised regarding the safety and equitable treatment of disabled members, with allegations of threats and harassment that management failed to adequately address. This points to potential significant accessibility and safety issues for disabled individuals.

👥Crowd Levels

  • Stair climbers are frequently all taken, suggesting high demand.
  • E-Gym and the free-gym area are described as better during 'off-hours,' indicating they can be crowded or have 'friction' during peak times.

🛡️Safety Features

  • Serious allegations of a failure in safety protocols and management's response to threats and harassment against disabled members and employees are reported, indicating a significant breakdown in ensuring member safety.

When to Avoid

  • Friday evenings if relying on the 'adventure center' for childcare while working out.
  • Weekends if requiring gym access past typical early evening hours (e.g., 9 PM).
  • Peak hours if stair climbers, the free-gym area, or E-Gym are crucial to your workout.
  • Families with disabled members or individuals with high concerns for personal safety and human rights, due to severe incidents and alleged management inaction described in Review 3.

My son and I enjoy the YMCA. However, for how much it costs the hours are not great. I wish it was open until 9 on Saturday and Sunday. Also on Friday there is no drop off at the adventure center. It is family time. This is super annoying to many people hoping to get a workout in and end up having to stay with the kids in the adventure center. Otherwise it’s a great Y.

I've been a member for almost a year and love it here. Some feedback: The gym could really use more stair climbers. Of the four, one has been waiting on a part for almost the whole time I've belonged and a second machine is often down temporarily. I suggest adding four new ones and keeping the old ones if it's a pain to get the parts replaced and some will always be out of order. In terms of freeing up space, I've never seen all of any other kind of aerobic machine being used, but the stair climbers are all taken quite frequently.

The management has been asked by police to trespass a member who's family member threatened to kill an employee when they tried to intervene after weeks of these people making fun of disabled members. It's disgusting to know these people may be present if I take my disabled 18 year old there, and as the parent of a disabled child, I advise anyone who cares about human rights and personal safely to avoid this location and let them know you do not feel safe or approve of them allowing this to continue.

I've enjoyed being a member at this YMCA, but mostly due to the friendly employees and short distance from our home. I think the facilities are in okay shape. Its nice there is an indoor pool, but from a weight-training perspective I found it to be somewhat of a limiting factor. I used the E-Gym a good bit and that works if you go off-hours, and I didn't enjoy spending time in the free-gym area due to the size and friction of working in.
