💡Pro Tips from Reviews
- →For families planning to tackle the Sycamore trail, ensure everyone stretches adequately before starting due to its length and challenging terrain (8 miles, hills, roots).
- →Always wear comfortable and sturdy shoes, especially for trails with roots and creek crossings.
- →Be cautious when crossing creeks, as rocks can be slippery.
- →Prepare for a 'digital detox' as phone service is limited or non-existent, bringing paper maps or pre-downloaded trail info if needed.
- →Pack a picnic to take advantage of the large grass areas and lake views.
- →Bring water, especially for longer trails, as the Sycamore trail reviewer noted significant fatigue.
- →If bringing a dog, ensure they are leashed and you have waste bags for clean-up.
Things to Consider
- ⚠The Sycamore trail is notably long (almost 8 miles from the parking lot) and physically demanding, featuring hills, creek beds, and a lot of roots.
- ⚠The log art installations are reported as 'not in great shape anymore'.
- ⚠Limited to no phone service within the park, which could be a concern for some parents regarding connectivity or emergencies.

a month agoJust conquered the sycamore trail. Make sure to stretch before you go. Ended up being almost 8 miles total from the parking lot. There are some hills, creek beds and a lot of roots. Bring comfortable shoes, my dogs were barkin' and my feet were flat as pancakes after this one!

a month agoA great place to go in the woods and escape the hustle and bustle of the City of Raleigh. The log art isn't in great shape anymore but still cool and the water wasn't super cold when I accidentally dunked my shoe in while sliding off a rock crossing a creek 😀 go enjoy nature you won't be sorry 😉

6 months agoI absolutely LOVE William B! This is really my peace spot that I come to. There are long trails, the lake is so peaceful to look at, big grass areas to have picnics, and a great distraction free place to spend some family time (you won’t have any phone service here). Dogs are welcome too!
